tea leaf reed coming into its own
the guys have just been on fire; this whole stretch from 9/3 to this show is blowing me away (check out those new tunes!). now that they have had more time as a group they can do all the things that make TLG shows so special. reed himself doesn't just shine in this one, he blazes throughout. there's prevalent crowd noise, but i could give a shit. it isn't that bad, and the music more than makes up for it.
hadn't heard jubilee in a while, and this is an inspirational version that sets the tone for the rest of the show. the not fit/cali coupling is smoother than the joining of faced and vote, which is kind of abrupt. i like relax & get naked as a set opener. don't let it down is one of the few slow songs that is still slow, and this near-flawless iteration gives people time to take a breath before the barn burning rest of the set ignites. wet spot is hot and filthy pure psychedelic funk, delicious, with a great organic shift into one reason. the intensity gradually builds through the meat at the end of set two with the trifecta of training a cloud, gasaholic, and reservoir. this reservoir should be handled with care; it's not just the length, it's the voltage. damn. (whoops yeah there is a tracking error, forgot about that between the listen and the review) triumphant ttbp encore made me glad for the dude who kept calling for it at the start of the set.
the only tough part about amazing series of shows like this is the inevitable feeling that the right thing to do is pack up and follow 'em around. you know what they say, if it wasn't for the money...

Nice Tapes A+
im really digging this show...and i like how there is crowd noise, but the music/vocals are clear over it...dont want to be a debbie downer, but the first 6:20 of reservoir is actually the other half of gasaholic...its a great transition into reservoir though...never heard it before...it sounds amazing great job!!!
